Meet Rebecca.
As a hardworking, dedicated, crazy gecko lady, Rebecca has lots of unique insights on what its really like to be a niche YouTube creator.
We had a chance to talk to Rebecca and learn a bit more about her life as a creator.
Tell us a bit more about your channel.
It’s a bit of a niche channel. I focus on the care of Reptiles, in particular my Leopard Geckos. My aim was always to help improve the lives of captive reptiles.
Why did you become a creator?
I didn’t really have anyone in my real life to talk about reptiles to. At the time, I had owned Leopard Geckos for 6 years and just wanted an outlet to be able to talk about their care and all the awesome things they do!
Where do you get inspiration for your videos?
My audience, the geckos, and things I really want to talk about and share.
Who are some of your favorite YouTube creators?
There are some other great pet channels out there including Emiology, Jessica’s Animal Friends, Victoria Raechel, Serpa Design, Ants Canada and more!
What one piece advice would you give to your fellow creators?
Film in landscape! I see many people start channels simply using their phones, but they film in portrait – first rookie mistake! 🙂 But also, especially if you’re doing a pet channel, don’t start with a super long comprehensive video about every aspect of the animal’s care – pace yourself!
